From Statistics to a Big-League Sports Broadcast

A modern sports match has long been about more than the game on the field of play. It is also what viewers see on screen: the score, game events, team line-ups, statistics, replays and dozens of details that together make up the full picture of a competition.

At ScoreLab we have always seen statistics not as the end product of the system, but as the foundation for a range of tools that make modern sport more engaging, easier to follow and more spectacular.

Today we are introducing brand-new graphics for match video broadcasts.

The whole game, right on screen

We have completely redesigned the look of our broadcasts, creating a modern graphics system in the style of major sporting events.

Clean shapes, expressive typography, contrasting colours, dynamic transitions and smooth animation — ScoreLab graphics now look like a true part of a professional television broadcast.

But it is not only about the look.

The scoreboard with score and time, game events, team line-ups and statistics are displayed directly on top of the video. All of it comes from the same data that is entered into the match report. No double entry, no separate sources of information — one match, one statistics system and many ways to present it to the viewer.

Every event has a story

A goal, a goalkeeper's save or an exclusion is more than a brief notice that something has happened.

Each of them can now come with the player's photo and their statistics in the current match. Viewers learn not only who scored or stopped the shot, but also more about the player involved.

Before the match, the teams are introduced to viewers player by player — with photos and individual data for each athlete.

At the break, the broadcast is complemented by a detailed comparison of the teams across key statistics. It is a chance to see not just the current score, but how the game is shaping up in numbers.

And a dedicated opening screen with a QR code invites viewers straight to the match page in ScoreLab, where its statistics are available.

Graphics that are easy to watch

We also kept in mind how the way people consume sports content has changed.

Today a match may be watched on a large TV, a computer monitor or a small smartphone screen. That is why, in designing the new graphics, we paid particular attention to readability: large figures, crisp typography, good contrast and a carefully considered layout of information blocks.

Graphics should not get in the way of the game but add to it — giving viewers the information they need exactly when they need it.

New graphics, new possibilities for Water Polo 4×4

It is worth noting that the new system was designed from the outset with the specifics of Water Polo 4×4 in mind.

It supports not only the classic score display but also the particulars of the new format: the results of individual sets and the penalty shootout.

So whatever the competition format, ScoreLab offers a consistent approach to presenting statistics and game events.

More than statistics

There is much more behind the new graphics than a design refresh.

We are steadily developing ScoreLab as a platform where statistical data becomes the foundation for a whole ecosystem of sports tools: from keeping the match report and analytics to automated broadcast graphics and engaging with viewers.

Because modern sports statistics are not just numbers after the final whistle.

They are information that works during the game, helps coaches and specialists, makes broadcasts richer and brings viewers closer to the action.

ScoreLab. Statistics beyond the match report.
